Following the launch of the Galaxy Note 20 series, Samsung is moving on to part 2 of its Unpacked event where it will reveal the Galaxy Z Fold 2. This is the successor to the original Samsung Galaxy Fold and it features larger and better displays.
The Galaxy Z Fold 2 launch event is taking place on the 1st of September 2020 at 10pm (MYT). You can watch it live on Samsung Malaysia’s website or on the official Samsung YouTube channel.
From what we know so far, the Galaxy Z Fold 2 will get a larger 6.2″ front cover display while on the inside, it features a 7.6″ Dynamic AMOLED 2x screen that pushes a higher 120Hz refresh rate. Under the hood, it runs on a Snapdragon 865+ processor with 12GB of RAM and it could come with 256GB of internal storage.
For taking pictures, the device gets a Note 20-like camera bump that houses three 12MP cameras for wide, ultra-wide-angle and telephoto. The new foldable flagship will feature a brand new hinge which allows it to stay open at various angles similar to the Galaxy Z Flip. This opens up more possibilities as you can use the Fold in various modes.
Powering the device is a 4,500mAh battery and it supports 25W fast charging via USB-C. According to serial leakster Roland Quandt, the Z Fold 2 is priced at EUR 1999 (about RM9,819) which is EUR 100 (about RM491) cheaper than the first gen model.
In Malaysia, the Samsung Galaxy Fold was officially priced at RM8,388 and if the rumours are true, it might still be priced under RM9,000. Since Malaysia is a key market, Samsung Malaysia could offer pre-orders for the Galaxy Z Fold 2 shortly after the global announcement.
