It’s back to single-digit as Malaysia records 9 new COVID-19 cases today. This brings the total number of infections to 9,103. Fortunately, there are no new deaths reported and the death toll remains at 125 for 11 straight days.
The Ministry of Health has also reported 6 new recoveries and a total of 8,809 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is currently 96.77% while the mortality rate is 1.37%.
There are currently 169 active cases remaining which are isolated and receiving treatment. 2 patients are in ICU and none of them require respiratory support.
Out of the 9 new cases today, 5 are imported while the remaining 4 are transmitted locally. The imported case include 3 Malaysians returning from Japan, New Zealand and Singapore respectively. There are also 2 foreigners arriving from India and Pakistan.
There are no Malaysians among the new local cases today. The new cases include 3 foreigners reported in Kuala Lumpur from the Bukit Jalil Immigration Depot and 1 foreigner that was detected in Sabah. There are no new cases reported from existing active COVID-19 clusters.
As of 12pm today, Malaysia has conducted a total of 1,063,304 COVID-19 tests and the positive rate is 0.86%.
