Many PlayStation fans may be wondering if they can use their existing PlayStation 4 peripherals with the upcoming PlayStation 5 when it finally hit store shelves at the end of this year. Fortunately, Sony has addressed this question in its latest blog post.

If you own a lot of speciality peripherals you are in luck. According to Sony, officially licensed racing wheels, arcade sticks and flight sticks will work with PS5 and supported PS4 games. Owners of the Platinum and Gold Wireless Headsets, as well as third-party headsets that connect via USB port or audio jack, will also be happy to learn that they will work with the PS5. Unfortunately, the headset companion app that is used to load custom audio modes and profiles on your PS4 does not work on Sony’ new console.

Sony also confirmed the DualShock 4 wireless controller and licensed third-party gamepad controllers will work with supported PS4 games. Unfortunately, you can’t use your old DualShock 4 controllers with PS5 games. Sony stated this was because PS5 games would take advantage of the capabilities and features of the new DualSense controller.

PS VR owners will be pleased to know that the PlayStation Camera will work with the PS5 for playing supported PS VR games. To use it you will need a PlayStation Camera adaptor, which Sony said will be provided at no additional cost to PS VR users. It will reveal more details on how to get the adaptor at a later date.

Apart from the PlayStation Camera, Sony also confirmed that the PS Move Motion controllers and the PS VR Aim Controller also work with supported PS VR games on the PS5.
