COVID-19: New cases drop to 3 today (23 June), 95.30% of cases have recovered

Malaysia has recorded 3 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 8,590. There have been no new deaths reported and the death toll remains at 121 for 9 straight days.

There are 9 recoveries today and a total of 8,186 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is currently 95.30% while the mortality rate is 1.41%.

At the moment, there are 283 active cases that are isolated and receiving treatment. 3 cases are in ICU and there are no case that require respiratory support.

All 3 new cases reported today are transmitted locally which consists of 2 foreigners and 1 Malaysian. This includes 1 case involving a non-Malaysian from the Pedas cluster and 2 new cases consisting of 1 Malaysian and 1 non-Malaysian in Sabah.

The Ministry of Health has informed the end of the Kuching church cluster which was one of the early clusters to be detected before the movement control order. Until the 23rd of June, a total of 2,751 individuals were screened and 191 were found positive. There are a total of 3 deaths from the cluster.

The Cheras security guard cluster has ended as well with a total of 39 positive cases and no deaths were reported.
