Honda has recently issued a recall for 1.4 million vehicles worldwide to replace a fuel pump as a precautionary measure. In Malaysia, 55,354 vehicles are affected and Honda Malaysia is reaching out to customers that are affected.

Below is the list of affected Honda models under the product recall:

Honda Accord 2018 – 298 units
Honda BR-V 2018 – 5,367 units
Honda City 2019 – 15,852 units
Honda City (HEV) 2019 – 1,620 units
Honda Civic 2018 – 9,122 units
Honda CR-V 2018 – 5,883 units
Honda CR-V 2019 – 1,047 units
Honda HRV 2018 – 8,070 units
Honda HRV (HEV) 2018 – 1,408 units
Honda Jazz 2019 – 6,509 units
Honda Jazz (HEV) 2019 – 448 units

According to Honda Malaysia, the recall is necessary as a preventive measure to address the possibility of a loss of engine power or vehicle stalling. All affected customers will be notified by notifications letters which will include details of the product recall.

Check if you’re affected

To find out if your vehicle is affected, you can search your car’s Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on the Product Recall page. If you don’t have the VIN or chassis number, you can find the 17-digit code in your JPJ registration card or service booklet. Alternatively, you can find it on the passenger’s side centre pillar or in the engine bay firewall.

If your vehicle is listed, you may contact any Honda authorised dealer to make an appointment when you receive a notification to replace the fuel pump subject to parts availability. It is reported that stocks for the fuel pump replacement will come in stages and the cost for the replacement is completely free of charge for affected customers.

Honda Malaysia assures that all of its 2020 production models are not affected by this recall and apologises for the inconvenience caused to affected customers. At the moment, there have been no incidences of crashes or injuries caused by this issue in Malaysia.

For further inquiries, customers may contact Honda’s toll-free number at 1800 88 2020 or visit honda.com.my.
