Touch ‘n Go has finally introduced its DIY RFID self-fitment kit, which allows users to install the RFID tags on their vehicles. You can order the RFID kit online and the installation is pretty straight forward.
The TNG RFID self-fitment kit costs RM35 each and it is currently sold on Lazada and Shopee. The kit comes with instructions or you can watch the instruction video that’s embedded below.
The RFID tag can be installed either on the exterior on the upper left windscreen or on the left headlamp of your vehicle. The tag must be placed at least 5cm away from metal elements.
To activate the tag, you’ll need to have a Touch ‘n Go eWallet account and register a Mobile eXperience account here. After providing the TNG RFID tag number and your vehicle details, you can proceed to link the tag to your Touch ‘n Go Wallet. The RFID tag will be activated within 24 hours and you’ll receive a notification by SMS.
According to TNG, the RFID tag was officially launched on 15 February 2020 after 18 months of public pilot program. There are 1.2 million users at the moment. Apart from making contactless payments for toll, the RFID service will be expanded for petrol, parking and drive-thru retail purchases. A few months ago, Shell has announced that it will be supporting TNG RFID for fuel payments.
TNG RFID is currently supported on most highways in the Klang Valley and it will soon be available on all closed-system toll plazas on PLUS highway. RFID support on closed-system toll plazas on PLUS and LPT highways was supposed to be ready by 1st April but the implementation has been deferred due to the MCO.
If you prefer to have the RFID tag installed by a trained professional, selected RFID fitment centres are now open during the CMCO. More details here.
