Out of the 41 new cases, 37 are related to the Sri Petaling cluster, 3 are close contacts to the Case 33 cluster and 1 has a travel history to Iran.

Yesterday, there were 39 new cases and the Prime Minister has called for the postponement and cancellation of all forms of gathering and events until the 30th of April 2020 to contain the spread of the coronavirus. The Health Minister, Dr. Adham Baba has urged Malaysians to avoid any public gathering exceeding 50 people.

Based on the breakdown of the new cases, 39 are Malaysians while 2 are Indonesians. Sabah has recorded the highest number of cases at 11, followed by Negeri Sembilan 8 and Sarawak 6. Johor, Melaka, Selangor and Penang has recorded 5 cases each.

In terms of overall numbers, Selangor has the highest number of cases at 92 and the highest reported age group overall is 50-59 years old with 60 cases.

The Ministry has also reported two cases (Case 35 and Case 61) have recovered and discharged, bringing the total number of recoveries to 35. There are zero deaths reported so far due to the coronavirus. 5 cases are currently in ICU.

New rules for Hospital visits

To prevent the spread of COVID-19 at hospitals, the government is limiting the number of visitors to 2 people per patient at any one time and children below the age of 12 years old are not allowed to visit. Hospital visitors with influenza symptoms such as sore throat, cough, flu, fever, nausea and diarrhoea, are not allowed to enter the ward areas. High-risk visitors such as those with chronic disease and individuals with low immunity (for example patients receiving cancer treatment) are not permitted to visit the hospital unless there’s an avoidable emergency.
