Opensignal has just presented an award to Celcom for having the best 4G network availability in the country. This was based on their latest Malaysia Mobile Network Experience report that was released in April this year.

According to the report which covers 1,912,501,331 measurements taken between 1st December 2018 to 28th February 2019, Celcom is the winner in both 4G availability and upload speeds, and it also shares the top position for video experience with Maxis.

In terms of nationwide 4G availability, Celcom recorded 86.8%, followed by Maxis at 83.2%. The blue telco also clocked an average of 14.7Mbps for downloads and 6.3Mbps for uploads.

According to Opensignal’s definition, 4G availability does not represent geographical coverage but it shows the proportion of time a user with a 4G device stays connected to a 4G network.

The Opensignal report also included a detailed breakdown in 11 cities. They have found that Celcom has 4G availability scores above 90% in Alor Setar, Ipoh, Johor Bahru, Kuala Lumpur, Kuala Terengganu, Melaka and Seberang Perai/Penang.
