We got some snippets of information about the Optimus Sol yesterday, today we got the official word from LG Malaysia on the details of the device.

Official details on the LG Optimus Sol includes a 9.8mm thin form factor, a 1GHz single-core processor and a 3.8-inch “Ultra AMOLED” display that LG claims offer high clarity and visibility even when viewed under bright sunlight. There’s also a 5MP camera and an power-optimised user interface Sol that LG refers to to as “Dark UI”. Dark UI uses less white light in the phone’s interface allowing battery life to be extended by 20 to 30 percent.

Dr. Jong-seok Park, President and CEO of LG says the “Optimus Sol stands out from its competitors as the most affordable 1 GHz Android Smartphone with an AMOLED display,”

In addition, he says the Sol focuses on being a “no-nonsense phone that boasts one of the best displays on the market” that’s “a real winner for consumers looking for a subtle but visually stunning phone.”

The Optimus Sol will be introduced in Europe beginning mid-September, followed by roll-outs in Central and South America later this year.

If you’re wondering, the LG Malaysia announcement follows a global release on the device, there’s still no word on whether it will be coming to Malaysia. And of course without a local availability date, there’s no local pricing as well.
