The screenshot above was provided to us by tipster iVince7. What looks like a legit internal handbook from Apple reveals the launch dates of two key products from the company — Mac OS X Lion and iOS 5. The document reveals that Lion will be released on July 14 and iOS 5 on September 9 7.
The dates are strong indicators of when we can expect two key Apple devices that are overdue for an update. One is the MacBook Air and the other is the next-gen iPhone (one we think will be more of an iPhone 4S update rather than a full-blown revamp).
Of course, we have no way of verifying this so the September 9 7 timeline for the next-gen iPhone release will remain unconfirmed for now but it is interesting to note that at the last WWDC keynote, it was stated that iOS 5 will be publicly available in September.
Another interesting note is that rumours are now going around that the new MacBook Air is expected to go on sale mid-July. The document states that Lion will be released July 14 — pretty close.
Things are indeed getting very interesting. For those of you who’ve been holding out on a smartphone purchase until the new iPhone makes an appearance it looks like September is your month.
Thanks iVince7 for the tip!
