KFC restaurants now accept payments using Maybank’s QRPay

Maybank and KFC have recently announced a partnership that will enable customers to make payment using Maybank QRPay at KFC restaurants.

QRPay is a form of mobile payment but it is slightly different in that it doesn’t require NFC. So this means devices without NFC built-in can also make payments at the counter using their mobile phones. All they have to is open the Maybank app and use the “Pay” function to generate a QR code on your smartphone.

The QR code will then be scanned by the card terminal scanner at the counter. The transaction amount will be debited from your selected account. It’s so much easier and there’s no need to fuss around with cash and loose change. In addition, QRPay is also able to accept QR code payments using Alipay and WeChat.

At the moment QRPay is available at just 11 KFC outlets — KFC Puduraya, Pavilion 2, Bukit Bintang, KL Sentral, Mid Valley Megamall, KLIA2 Arrival and Departure, Sunway Pyramid, Shah Alam Section 7, The Curve and VSQ. KFC says that more restaurants will be able to accept QRPay payments soon.
