OPPO Digital shutdown

Many might recognise OPPO as a top 5 smartphone maker, but did you know that OPPO also makes high-end audio-visual equipment? After 14 years in the business, OPPO Digital is shutting down.

OPPO Digital was established in the US and they are well known for its headphones and universal disc players covering from DVD, Blu-ray to 4K UHD. A couple of years back, we had the opportunity to try out their OPPO PM-3 headphones and HA-2 Amp which are pretty damn good.

While they no longer produce new products, OPPO Digital is still committed to providing support and warranty for existing products. According to OPPO, new firmware updates for its Blu-ray players (UDP-203 and UDP-205) will be released from time to time when required. OPPO Digital didn’t explain why they are shutting down but they will be focusing on organising and ensuring long-term support for its current generation of products. In case you’re wondering, OPPO Digital is different from OPPO, the smartphone company, so the mobile business won’t affected by this announcement.

You can read the full farewell message here.
