FastEV activates new DC chargers in Kuching and Sebangan with 90 sen per min promo rate

Sarawak’s homegrown Charge Point Operator (CPO), FastEV, has added two new DC charging locations to its network. Located in Kuching and Sebangan, the additions bring the CPO’s footprint to 8 locations statewide.

Operated by SDEC Karuna JV Sdn Bhd (SKJV)—a joint venture subsidiary under the Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation (SDEC)—the CPO first entered the scene back in 2025. To activate and pay for charging sessions, users can download the FastEV mobile app, available on both Android and iOS.

One of FastEV’s latest deployments is located at Urban Residences along Jalan Central Timur, Kuching. The site features two charging bays, with each bay equipped with its own dedicated 50kW Blueberry DC fast charger from i-charging.

Hailing from Portugal, this rollout marks the first deployment of i-charging hardware in Malaysia. In terms of pricing, the standard rate is RM1.10 per minute, though an introductory promo rate of 90 sen per minute is currently available until 23 November 2026.

FastEV RTC Sampat, Sebangan

Further out, FastEV has also activated a DC charger at the Rural Transformation Centre (RTC) Sampat in Sebangan, approximately two hours outside Kuching. This location offers two charging bays served by a single UWC DC charger with two connectors configured to output 40kW.

Because power is shared dynamically between the two connectors, the output will split if two EVs plug in simultaneously. Charging at RTC Sampat is also priced at an introductory 90 sen per minute until 25 November 2026, after which it reverts to the standard RM1.10 per minute rate.

Two More Locations Coming Soon

FastEV is already preparing to commission two additional locations in the near future. One is situated at Zecon Tower along Jalan Satok, Kuching, featuring a high-powered 200kW DC charger catering to 4 charging bays.

The other upcoming site is at Meditel Kuching, which will house a 40kW DC charger alongside two 22kW AC charge points. While exact deployment dates and final tariff rates have not yet been announced, the wait is expected to be brief.
