ALS RoboVan Level 4 driverless vehicle starts public road trial in Cyberjaya

Autonomous Logistic Solutions Sdn Bhd (ALS) is set to embark on a 6-month public road trial for its L4 driverless RoboVan in Cyberjaya. The company noted that this marks the first time a Malaysian company has been authorised to deploy a fully driverless Level 4 autonomous vehicle on public roads with a valid licence plate.

Prior to this public deployment, the ALS RoboVan underwent a 6-month trial at the Pos Malaysia National Mail Centre in Shah Alam. Over 1,000km were logged during the closed-environment trial, which involved point-to-point pallet transfers across at least two daily shifts.

If you are wondering, the blue-labelled plate shown at the launch event is not the actual plate the RoboVan will use on public roads. The real registration plate will be a standard green-labelled JPJePlate issued for EVs.

Public visitors can catch the ALS RoboVan in person at the Transport Expo Asia (TXA) 2026 at MITEC KL, which opens to the public tomorrow, 22 October.

The public road trial will take place along the Malaysia Autonomous Vehicle (MyAV) test route in Cyberjaya. The 22km route will see the autonomous delivery vehicle navigate key thoroughfares across Cyberjaya, including Persiaran APEC, Persiaran Cyberpoint Selatan, Persiaran Rimba Permai, Persiaran Cyberpoint 5, and the surrounding Futurise area.

The primary objective of the trial is to evaluate vehicle performance, system reliability, mixed-traffic responses, remote-supervision capabilities, and seamless integration into active logistics workflows. Operational oversight will be managed directly from the dedicated ALS Remote Operations Centre (ROC) located in Cyberjaya.

Unlike previous controlled compound testing, this extended route presents real-world driving conditions as it traverses busy business districts, commercial hubs, educational institutions, MRT stations, multi-lane intersections, and pedestrian crossings surrounded by regular everyday traffic.

ALS RoboVan Quick Specs

The underlying technology within the ALS RoboVan is developed in collaboration with Zelostech, which describes itself as the world’s largest RoboVan enterprise. As Zelostech’s exclusive Malaysian partner, ALS handles the end-to-end implementation, integration, and operation of Zelostech autonomous vehicles in our market.

Designed purely for cargo transport without passengers, the ALS RoboVan is based on the Zelos Z10 fully-electric autonomous vehicle. It is equipped with a comprehensive sensor suite featuring LiDAR, a traffic light detection camera, a surveillance camera, and surrounding-view cameras.

Built with 10m³ of cargo space, the RoboVan is capable of carrying a maximum payload of 1,500kg and reaches a top speed of 55km/h. Its 34.5kWh LFP battery provides a range of up to 210km on a single charge.

While exact peak charging rates were not detailed, ALS stated that the RoboVan takes approximately 3 hours to fully recharge via DC charging. On AC charging, a full top-up takes between 7 and 11.5 hours.
