University students in Malaysia get free Google AI Plus for 12-months. Here’s how to redeem

Google is now offering free 12-month Google AI Plus for university students ahead of the back-to-school season. Valued at RM287.88 in total savings (RM23.99/month), the plan provides features designed to assist students with course research, file management, and exam preparation.

This promotional offer is applicable to eligible students in over 140 countries including Malaysia. Besides that, Google is also offering discounted rates for other tiers along with new features integrated across Search, Gemini, and Google Classroom.

Who is eligible and what is included in the free plan?

According to Google’s official announcement, the free 12-month Google AI Plus student offer is open to eligible college and university students open to eligible college and university students aged 18 and older. Both new users and students whose previous AI trial has expired can qualify for the offer.

The free Google AI Plus student plan includes 2x higher usage limits to double standard query allowances in Gemini during busy assignment deadlines and exam periods. Students receive 400GB of cloud storage shared across Google Drive, Gmail, and Google Photos to securely back up coursework and project files.

The plan also provides access to Gemini’s full multimodal features allowing natural interaction via text, audio, or video inputs alongside unlimited uploads for Study Notebooks, interactive Visuals, and Gemini Live practice sessions.

Discounted Google AI Pro and YouTube Premium bundles

For students requiring higher performance, extra cloud capacity, and entertainment, Google is offering heavily discounted monthly plans. The Google AI Pro Plan is available for RM23.99/month (down from the standard price of RM97.99/month). This plan includes 4x higher usage limits in Gemini, expanded AI features in Google Search, Gemini integration inside Workspace apps like Gmail, Docs, and Slides, as well as 5TB of cloud storage.

Additionally, students can opt for the Google AI Pro + YouTube Premium Bundle for RM33.49/month (standard price: RM118.89/month). This tier combines all the features of the Google AI Pro plan with an ad-free YouTube Premium subscription for both video and music streaming. Promotions run until 31 December 2026.

Student Hub and Study Notebooks inside Gemini

To make studying simpler, Google is introducing a Student Hub directly inside the Gemini app. Located under a new “Level up your studying” menu, the hub brings essential learning tools into one place, allowing students to claim promotional offers, create flashcards, and set up custom study notebooks.

Students can use Study Notebooks to organize their subjects and more into personalized study paths. By dragging and dropping course files such as syllabus, slides, or lecture notes into Gemini, the AI reads the material to map out the semester, generate structured weekly lessons, and track progress over time.

How to redeem and offer terms

The free 12-month Google AI Plus student offer is available to redeem from now until 31 December 2026. Students can visit the official Google Gemini student page to check their eligibility and complete the sign-up process.

Please note that a valid form of payment is required at sign-up, and once the 12-month free promotional period ends, Google AI Plus will automatically charge MYR 23.99/month unless cancelled prior to the renewal date. Students can cancel at any time.
