Puspakom is officially expanding its GiCheck Early Access Reservation (GEAR) premium booking service to all 26 of its main inspection centres nationwide throughout August 2026.
The expansion comes less than three weeks after GEAR was initially trialled, following strong customer uptake and positive operational performance.
During its initial pilot, Puspakom achieved a 98.8% booking rate, a 93.7% turn-up rate, and reduced average inspection times to just 33 minutes per vehicle.
What is Puspakom GEAR and how much does it cost?
Designed for private vehicle owners, buyers and sellers who require time flexibility and urgent appointments, GEAR allows users to secure next-day inspection slots for an introductory fee of RM150 per booking slot (subject to periodic adjustments). This fee is charged strictly for securing the priority access slot and is separate from standard vehicle inspection charges. PUSPAKOM notes that standard booking slots remain available to ensure fair access for all customers.
Which vehicle types and inspections are eligible?
The GEAR service is strictly available for private vehicles covering three specific inspection types: Special Inspection (B2), Transfer of Ownership Inspection (MV15), and Hire Purchase Inspection (B7). This makes the service particularly suitable for vehicle owners who need fast-track inspections for buying, selling, or ownership transfer processes.
Nationwide rollout schedule across two phases
The nationwide rollout is being executed in two phases across August 2026, offering up to 80 GEAR booking slots daily per centre. Phase 1 launched in the second week of August across 11 branches in the Central and Southern regions, including :
- Central: Padang Jawa, Cheras, Pandan Mewah, Banting, Bangi
- Southern: Seremban, Alor Gajah, Muar, Kluang, Johor Bahru, Senai
Phase 2 will roll out in the fourth week of August across 12 branches in the Northern, Eastern, and East Malaysia regions including:
- Northern: Alor Setar, Sg Petani, Teluk Kumbar, Mak Mandin, Ipoh, Gopeng, Taiping
- Eastern: Kota Bharu, Kuala Terengganu, Kuantan
- East Malaysia: Kota Samarahan (Sarawak), Kota Kinabalu (Sabah)
These 23 locations join the 3 initial pilot branches in Wangsa Maju, Glenmarie, and Batu Caves to complete Puspakom’s 26-centre nationwide footprint.
