Proton e.MAS 7 PHEV CKD is here: Only one major change over CBU version

The local assembly (CKD) of Proton e.MAS 7 PHEV has now begun in Proton’s EV plant at Tanjung Malim. It is also a major milestone for Proton and Pro-Net as this means that the production of all three existing Proton e.MAS models, including the e.MAS 7 EV and e.MAS 5 are now fully in Malaysia.

Launched back in February, Pro-Net said that more than 4,600 units of e.MAS 7 PHEV have been delivered to customers as of 30 June 2026. The company also said that the model currently has a 47% share of the local PHEV market.

Proton e.MAS 7 PHEV CKD: Any changes to the price?

Today’s announcement only involved the rollout of the CKD unit. According to a Pro-Net representative, the pricing for the e.MAS 7 PHEV CKD will only be made at a later time.

As a reference, the e.MAS 7 PHEV Prime is currently priced at RM105,800 while the e.MAS 7 PHEV Premium and Premium Plus are priced at RM119,800 and RM125,800, respectively. The pricing mentioned here already includes a RM4,000 launch rebate.

Proton e.MAS 7 PHEV CKD: What’s the difference?

If you are one of the early adopters of the e.MAS 7 PHEV, don’t worry – you are not missing much with the arrival of the CKD version. Unless you badly want a massage feature for your car.

That’s right – the only new feature on the e.MAS 7 PHEV CKD is the addition of a massage feature for the driver and front passenger seats. The feature comes with 6 different modes and offers 3 intensity levels.

If you want to go slightly further, the powertrain inside the e.MAS 7 PHEV CKD is locally assembled in Tanjung Malim as well. In addition to the PHEV, Proton’s engine assembly plant is also responsible for the brand’s internal combustion (ICE), hybrid (HEV), and full electric (BEV) models.

Aside from the massage feature, the e.MAS 7 PHEV CKD still offers a pure electric range of up to 170km NEDC or 146km WLTP, depending on the variant. It also capable of delivering a combined range of 1,065km NEDC or 996km WLTP.

How to identify Proton e.MAS 7 PHEV CKD?

The easiest way to identify the CKD version of e.MAS 7 PHEV is by looking at the VIN badge on the bottom part of the car’s B-pillar. If it says Proton, then it is indeed the CKD version, but if the badge has a Geely logo, then the car is the CBU version.
