Toyota has officially launched the Hilux BEV in Malaysia as part of the brand’s introduction of its fully electric (EV) lineup in our local market.
Despite being the first fully electric Hilux, it still retains Hilux’s traditional ladder-frame construction and off-road capabilities.
Toyota Hilux BEV Malaysia Pricing

The Toyota Hilux BEV is officially priced from RM226,300 (OTR price without insurance) in Peninsular Malaysia for individual private registration. The double-cab electric pickup is covered by a 5-year / 150,000km vehicle warranty and an 8-year / unlimited mileage high-voltage battery. If that’s not enough, UMW Toyota Motor is also offering customers the option to get a 10-year extended battery warranty
The Hilux BEV is offered in three colour options, namely Super White 2, Platinum White Pearl and Ash. The Platinum White Pearl option costs an additional RM800.
Toyota Hilux BEV Specs and Features
The Hilux BEV is powered by a dual-motor setup with front and rear eAxles, delivering a combined output of 144kW (194kW). The front motor produces 206Nm of torque while the rear pushes 267Nm. According to Toyota, the Hilux BEV was developed to ensure its off-road performance capabilities closely match those of other models with combustion engines.
It uses a 80-cell 59.2kWh lithium-ion battery, providing a claimed range of 315km on the NEDC cycle. This is approximately about 240km of range in the WLTP test cycle.
The Hilux BEV supports DC fast charging up to 150kW DC, allowing it to get from 10-80% charge in around 30 minutes. Meanwhile, it can also do AC charging at up to 10kW which takes approximately 6.5 hours to charge from 10-100%.
Dimension-wise, it matches the standard Double Cab Hilux with a length of 5,320mm, width of 1,855mm, height of 1,865mm and a 3,085mm wheelbase.
According to Toyota Malaysia, the Hilux BEV supports a maximum payload of 750kg and a maximum towing capacity of 2,000kg. The lower payload (typically 1000kg for pickup) is said to provide an optimal balance between electric range, power and usability.

The fully electric Hilux still maintains its utility capabilities while adopting a more modern “Cyber Sumo” styling. It gets LED turn lights, LED Daytime running lights, LED beam projectors, LED stop lamp, LED tail light, LED reverse light but bulb turn lamp.
The Hilux BEV retains a body-on-frame architecture with the high-voltage battery integrated within the chassis. This approach allows Toyota to preserve the strength and durability that’s expected of a Hilux despite having an all-electric drive train.
It gets independent Double wishbone with coil springs and stabiliser bar for the front while the rear gets De Dion-Type Leaf Spring suspensions.
The BEV pickup also boasts a water wading capability of 700mm and has a similar ground clearance, approach and departure angles of other Hilux models. For greater peace of mind during tyre emergencies, the Hilux BEV still carries a spare tyre underneath the truck bed.
To ensure optimum traction at all times, the Hilux BEV offers Multi-Terrain Select Modes with a physical rotary dial which cover difference surfaces such as Rock, Mogul, Mud, Sand and Dirt. There’s an Auto which allows the EV to adopt the suitable setting based on vehicle behaviour and driver input.
On the inside is what you would expect from a Toyota Hilux. It has chunky physical buttons and switches for all vital car controls. There’s a 12.3″ infotainment display mated to 8 speakers and it supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. To charge your devices, it also comes with Qi wireless charger and USB-C ports.
In addition, there’s also a 12.3″ full digital instrument cluster, a 360-degree Panoramic View Monitor (PVM), 8-way powered driver seat with 2-way lumbar support, electric parking brake and a digital video recorder. The pickup also features dual zone automatic climate control with rear aircon vents and PM2.5 filter.
The Hilux BEV also has access to Toyota Remote, a remote app support, which allows you to check your EV’s battery level, locate your vehicle, check status and trip history, adjust the climate control before stepping inside the vehicle.
This all-electric workhorse also gets 7 SRS airbags and 3rd generation Toyota Safety Sense suite of ADAS features. This includes Pre-collission system, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Lane Tracing Assist (LTA), Blind Spot Monitor, Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA) and Auto High Beam.
