The Tecno Camon series of smartphones has impressed us with its bright and crisp 144Hz AMOLED displays and surprisingly capable cameras. Now, the latest iteration, the Tecno Camon 50 series, has debuted at Mobile World Congress (MWC) Barcelona 2026, bringing notable upgrades to performance and imaging.
Three models are offered in the lineup:
The Tecno Camon 50 series is the first in its history to introduce an Ultra model, offering even higher-end specs, likely at a higher price as well. The Camon 50 series introduces a refreshed design with more curved and rounded edges, giving the devices a more premium look and feel.
All three models are rated IP69K for dust and water resistance and feature a slightly curved 6.78″ 1.5K (2644×1208) AMOLED display with a refresh rate of up to 144Hz, a specification usually reserved for higher-end devices.
Standard across the series are a 50MP OIS main camera using Sony’s 1/1.56″ LYT 700C sensor, a 6,500mAh battery with 45W USB-C fast charging, and a dual stereo speaker setup with Dolby Atmos support.
Similar to the iPhone’s Action Button or the Nothing Phone’s Essential Key, the Camon 50 series features an AI Key on the left frame. This can be used to quickly launch the camera or access Tecno’s AI tools, including the Ella assistant, FlashMemo for quick notes, and other productivity features like AI writing, summaries, and smart utilities.
Speaking of AI, Tecno also includes imaging features such as Super-Zoom FlashSnap, which captures sharp zoomed shots by rapidly taking multiple frames and selecting the best one, and AI Auto Zoom, which detects subjects like people, pets, or birds and generates multiple intelligently cropped compositions from a single photo.
All models run HiOS 16 based on Android 15 and are promised up to three generations of Android updates.
The differences between the models are primarily in performance and camera versatility. For starters, the Camon 50 Ultra 5G runs on MediaTek’s Dimensity 7400 Ultimate chipset, with up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. It also features a 50MP main camera, an 8MP ultra-wide, a 50MP 3x telephoto, and a 50MP selfie camera.
Powering the Camon 50 Pro 4G and Camon 50 4G, on the other hand, is the Helio G200 Ultimate processor with 8GB of RAM. Both models also get the same 32MP front camera, but only the Pro model gets the same rear camera setup as its Ultra sibling, while the standard model goes with a 50MP main and 8MP ultra-wide setup.
Tecno Malaysia has confirmed that the Camon 50 Ultra 5G will be launched in the country soon. Stay tuned to SoyaCincau.com for full coverage and hands-on impressions.
