A traveller by the name of stef747 on YouTube, who was flying from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur, recently lost $AUD52 (approximately RM145) after falling victim to a fake website offering assistance with the Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC). The victim believed the payment was required for an “immigration arrival card.” However, the truth is simple: the MDAC is completely free of charge.
How the Scam Works
Tourists searching for “MDAC” on Google may come across a sponsored advertisement linking to a website called mcadfast.com. The site claims to provide “MDAC approval within minutes,” creating a sense of urgency and legitimacy.
The website appears professional and official. Travellers fill in their personal details as required. Only at the final stage are they asked to make a payment — in this case, $AUD52.
However, this website is not the official MDAC platform.
Authorities and travellers are reminded that there is no fee to submit the Malaysia Digital Arrival Card. There is also no such thing as “faster approval” through third-party services.
How to Submit MDAC Safely
The legitimate Malaysia Digital Arrival Card can only be completed through official channels:
- Malaysia’s official Immigration website
- The MyNIISE app
- Official QR codes displayed at airport arrival areas
Travellers are advised to double-check website URLs and avoid clicking on random sponsored advertisements when searching online.
