U Mobile is expanding its presence in Sabah with the expansion of its ULTRA5G network across more parts of the state.
According to the orange telco, its ULTRA5G coverage has been expanded to additional areas in Kota Kinabalu, Tuaran, Beaufort and Kudat. In addition, indoor ULTRA5G coverage is also now available at major locations such as Imago Mall and Kota Kinabalu International Airport, with more sites planned as the rollout continues.
To mark the wider availability of ULTRA5G in Sabah, U Mobile had kicked off its Cara U Sabah ULTRA5G Fest last weekend. The three-day music, food and fashion festival took place from 6 to 8 February 2026 at Jetty DBKK.
Besides entertainment activities, the festival also gave attendees a hands-on look at what U Mobile’s next-generation 5G network has to offer. According to the telco, visitors can experience the difference of ULTRA5G speeds and 5G innovations through on-site showcases highlighting higher network capacity and lower latency. U Mobile has also set up a dedicated booth where attendees can try AI-based applications such as AI Wardrobe and AI Grooming.
U Mobile said the expanded ULTRA5G footprint will enable lower-latency connectivity, supporting use cases such as clearer video calls and smoother live streaming, even in areas with network congestion.

For enterprises and sectors including retail, transport hubs and public-sector offices, U Mobile said seamless indoor ULTRA5G coverage opens up digitalisation opportunities beyond basic connectivity. These include enterprise-grade services, IoT deployments, AI solutions and cybersecurity capabilities aimed at enabling smarter building operations, improved customer experiences and more efficient workflows. The company added that it is looking to tailor its offerings to enterprise needs beyond connectivity, as part of a broader enterprise strategy.
U Mobile’s CTO, Woon Ooi Yuen said, “U Mobile has been aggressively expanding our next gen 5G network and we are delighted to have further strengthened our presence in Sabah, supporting the state’s digital transformation and the growth of its digital economy. With the increased availability of our ULTRA5G experience, apart from enhancing customer experience, we are also enabling Sabahans to unlock digitalisation opportunities through 5G-A and AI applications, alongside enterprise-grade solutions and cybersecurity safe services.”
He added, “As a Malaysian company, we are also actively collaborating with local partners such as Celcom Timur Sabah for fibre backhaul, creating local job opportunities, skills development and business growth to further benefit Sabahans as part of our ongoing rollout effort.”
U Mobile has recently opened another full-service retail store at Kompleks Karamunsing, where customers can get personalised assistance, the latest devices and the telco’s full range of plans. This includes East Malaysia-specific offerings such as U Borneo Prepaid, U Borneo Postpaid and U Home 5G Borneo.
