Dongfeng Vigo now in Malaysia: RM100k compact electric SUV, set to rival BYD Atto 2

Dongfeng Motor Corporation together with its Malaysian partners, Central Auto Distributor Berhad (CADB) and Volt Auto have expanded Dongfeng passenger EV line-up in Malaysia with 2 new models this week. One of them is the a compact SUV called Dongfeng Vigo.

Dongfeng first entered Malaysia’s passenger EV market in late November 2024, when the company launched the Dongfeng Box. Before, the brand’s EV activities in our market revolved around commercial space, especially through the EC35 electric van.

Dongfeng Vigo and 007 Price Malaysia

In Malaysia, the Vigo is available for RM108,888, although as part of the launch promo, the new electric SUV can be obtained for slightly lower at RM100,000. The pricing mentioned here does not include related on-the-road fees and insurance.

The Vigo is available in Arctic White, Titanium Silver, Sandstone Beige, Mosswood Green, Canyon Orange, and Cyber Black. As for the interior, the Vigo features a Light Grey and Black colourway.

Early adopters of the Vigo in Malaysia will also be provided with a free ABB wallbox home charger. The electric SUV is also protected with a 6-year unlimited mileage vehicle warranty and a separate 8-year warranty with unlimited mileage for its powertrain, which also covers the EV’s high-voltage battery.

Dongfeng Vigo aiming for BYD Atto 2’s spot?

Based on the pricing above, as well as its form factor, the new Dongfeng Vigo will be competing in the same space as the BYD Atto 2, which is also officially priced at RM100,000. Physically, the Vigo is just a few mm shorter in length and height, but much wider and has a longer wheelbase than the Atto 2.

Also known as Nammi 06 in its home market of China, here’s a quick comparison of Vigo’s physical attributes against its BYD counterpart:

  • Dimensions: 4,306mm x 1,868mm x 1,645mm
  • Wheelbase: 2,715mm
  • Boot Space: 500L / 1,040L

BYD Atto 2

  • Dimensions: 4,310mm x 1,830mm x 1,675mm
  • Wheelbase: 2,620mm
  • Boot Space: 400L / 1,320L

One of Vigo’s main features: a split tailgate that can support up to 150kg of load and even has two cupholders.

Here are other top-level specs of Dongfeng Vigo:

  • Motor output: 120kW with 230Nm torque
  • 0-100km/h: 9.5s
  • Battery: 51.87kWh LFP
  • Range: 471km (CLTC) / 340km (WLTP)
  • DC charging: 167kW – 30% to 80% in 18 minutes
  • AC charging: 6.6kW – 9 hours for full charge

Other notable features that Dongfeng has equipped into the Vigo include a split tailgate, panoramic roof, leatherette seats, 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster, 12.8-inch infotainment display, 3.3kW Vehicle-to-Load (V2L), L2 ADAS, and 6 airbags.
