Volvo Car Malaysia has officially launched its fully electric ES90 sedan and it’s the brand’s first fully electric sedan that’s locally assembled in Malaysia.

Boasting an 800V architecture, the Volvo ES90 has ultra fast charging and the sole RWD setup provides extended range of over 600km.

As teased earlier, Volvo is offering early bird incentives for those who registered their interest for the new EV.

Volvo ES90 Malaysia Pricing

The Volvo ES90 is offered in a single variant and here’s the official pricing in Malaysia:

  • Volvo ES90 SIngle Motor Extended Range- RM339,888

For early bird buyers, they can get an early bird perk of 2%. Meanwhile, fleet purchases can enjoy a higher incentive of 8%.

Volvo ES90 Specs and Features

The ES90 is not your conventional sedan as it has a fastback design with a hatch opening for the rear. Built on the same SPA2 platform as the EX90, the ES90 offers a SUV-like ride height and ground clearance.

In other markets, the ES90 is offered in either RWD and AWD variants. For Malaysia, the RWD version gets a single motor pushing 333hp and 480Nm of torque. It is capable of accelerating from 0-100km/h in 6.6 seconds, up to a top speed of 180km/h.

As a comparison, the ES90 AWD performance that’s offered in other markets come with twin motors pushing 500kW (670hp) and and 870Nm of torque, with an impressive 0-100km/h time of 4.0 seconds.

The ES90 sedan in Malaysia comes with a 92kWh battery (88kWh usable) which offers a WLTP-rated range of 651km.

Utilising an 800V architecture, this is the first Volvo EV in Malaysia to support ultra fast DC charging speeds when plugged to a 350kW DC charger.

It can charge from 10-80% in 22 minutes and a quick 10 minute charge is able to top up to 300km of range.

On the inside, it features a 14.5″ central infotainment display with Google built-in along with a 9″ digital instrument cluster. As a new flagship EV, the ES90 is also the first Volvo to be powered by a dual Nvidia Drive AGX Orin configuration, making it the most powerful Volvo in terms of core computing capacity.

As expected from a flagship Volvo, the ES90 also features a 25-speaker 1610W Bowers & Wilkins High-Fidelity Audio system with Dolby Atmos.

Like any Volvo, safety remains a key highlight of the ES90 boasting a strong safety cage, advanced restraint systems and a comprehensive sensor suite comprising five radars, seven cameras and twelve ultrasonic sensors.

Unlike the Volvo EX90, there’s no LiDAR on the roof which gives the ES90 a sleeker appearance.
