This post is brought to you by Xiaomi.

For many smartphone users, the biggest frustrations are rarely about raw performance. Instead, it’s cracked screens from accidental drops, phones that struggle in the rain, and batteries that noticeably degrade after a couple of years.

With the REDMI Note 15 Pro+ 5G and REDMI Note 15 Pro 5G, Xiaomi is taking a more durability-first approach, positioning both models as midrange phones designed to last longer under everyday use.

Rather than focusing purely on specs, the REDMI Note 15 Pro series places emphasis on physical durability, battery longevity, and long-term software support, areas that are often overlooked in this segment.

Built to handle drops, pressure, and daily wear

Both the REDMI Note 15 Pro+ 5G and REDMI Note 15 Pro 5G share the same Titan Durability design. This includes a high-strength fibreglass back panel rated at up to 10 times impact resistance, paired with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on the front.

According to Xiaomi, the display has been tested to withstand a front drop of up to 2.5 metres under certified conditions.

Internally, both phones use what Xiaomi calls the REDMI Titan Structure, which features a reinforced mid-frame and a high-strength motherboard designed to improve overall rigidity and reduce damage from repeated impacts.

The durability claims are backed by SGS Premium Performance Certification, with both models receiving five-star ratings for drop, crush, and bend resistance.

While this does not make either phone indestructible, it does place the REDMI Note 15 Pro 5G and Pro+ 5G among the more robust options in the midrange smartphone category.

Water resistance that goes beyond basic splash protection

Water resistance is another area where the REDMI Note 15 Pro series stands out. Both models are rated for IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K dust and water resistance, covering everything from splashes and rain to high-pressure and high-temperature water exposure.

Xiaomi also states that both phones are tested for water submersion of up to two metres under laboratory conditions. In addition, the phones carry the TÜV Smartphone Water-Resistant Endurance Certification, which is intended to reflect durability over extended use rather than a single test scenario.

The REDMI Note 15 Pro+ 5G features AI Wet Touch 2.0, which uses AI-based water state detection to automatically adjust touch sensitivity when the screen is wet, while the REDMI Note 15 Pro 5G uses Wet Touch 2.0, which detects water, oil, sweat, and foam to maintain touch responsiveness.

Battery longevity is the main highlight

Battery performance is where Xiaomi draws the clearest line in positioning for the REDMI Note 15 Pro series. The REDMI Note 15 Pro+ 5G is equipped with a 6,500mAh silicon-carbon battery, while the REDMI Note 15 Pro 5G comes with a slightly larger 6,580mAh silicon-carbon battery.

Both are rated to support up to 1,600 charge cycles while maintaining at least 80% battery health, which Xiaomi estimates to be approximately equivalent to six years of regular use.

Charging speeds differ between the two models. The REDMI Note 15 Pro+ 5G supports up to 100W HyperCharge, which Xiaomi claims can recharge the phone from zero to full in around 40 minutes. On the other hand, the REDMI Note 15 Pro 5G supports 45W turbo charging.

Both models also support up to 22.5W wired reverse charging, allowing the phone to be used as a power source for accessories or other devices when needed.

A shared 200MP camera system with practical flexibility

On the imaging front, both the REDMI Note 15 Pro+ 5G and REDMI Note 15 Pro 5G use an all-new 4th-generation 200MP main camera paired with a large 1/1.4-inch sensor, with the focus here being on detail retention and flexibility.

The camera system supports five focal lengths, including 1x, 1.2x, 1.5x, 2x, and up to 4x optical-level telephoto zoom. Xiaomi achieves this using in-sensor zoom combined with AI-based image processing.

In practice, this setup is designed to handle a range of everyday shooting scenarios, from wide shots and group photos to portraits and distant subjects, without requiring a dedicated telephoto lens.

Software support and warranty coverage add peace of mind

Beyond hardware, Xiaomi is also emphasising long-term reliability through software and warranty coverage. The entire REDMI Note 15 Series are promised four years of Android OS updates and six years of security updates, a level of support that remains relatively uncommon in the midrange segment.

Both models include a standard 1+1 warranty. The REDMI Note 15 Pro 5G also offers additional coverage, including a four-year battery warranty that provides a free replacement if battery health drops below 80% within four years, as well as a two-year accidental damage warranty covering a one-time repair for screen, liquid, or back cover damage.

Pricing and availability in Malaysia

In Malaysia, the REDMI Note 15 Pro+ 5G and REDMI Note 15 Pro 5G will be available through Xiaomi Store, mi.com, Shopee, and Lazada.

The REDMI Note 15 Pro+ 5G has a normal retail price of RM1,899 for the 12GB+512GB variant. During the promotional period, you can purchase the 12GB+256GB variant at RM1,699 and receive a free storage upgrade to 512GB, worth RM200.

The REDMI Note 15 Pro 5G is normally priced at RM1,599 for the 8GB+512GB variant, but you can get it at a promotional price of RM1,399 during the same period.

From 16 to 21 January 2026, pre-orders for both models include a free REDMI Pad SE 8.7” and a cover.
