Proton will launch the new 2026 Proton X70 later this week on 8 January 2026. Also known as the Proton X70 MC3, the national automaker has once again confirmed that the latest iteration of its C-segment SUV will feature the i-GT engine.
The 2026 X70 is the third model to feature the i-GT 1.5L engine after the 2026 X50 FL and Saga MC3. The company first revealed its plan to provide X70 MC3 with the new 4-cylinder engine during the recent Proton Tech Showcase, as it is sunsetting the existing VVT and GEP3 engines.

At that time, the company had also confirmed that the SUV would receive a similar turbocharged version of the i-GT 1.5L engine like the X50. It will also be paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (7DCT) and is capable of delivering 133kW (178hp) with 290Nm of torque.
However, Proton is still keeping other aspects of the new 2026 X70 under wraps at the moment. That being said, we do believe that it will not be far different from its 3-cylinder predecessor, which was just launched around 17 months ago.

At the very least, the exterior design will be downright identical or quite close to 2025’s facelift model. This is based on the latest teaser that Proton has put up on its social media channels.
Rebates for 2025 Proton X70

Meanwhile, the outgoing 2025 X70 facelift (MC2) model is currently being offered with a cash rebate of up to RM10,000. Under Proton’s Jan 2026 Kasi Onz promotion, customers can save even further through a trade-in bonus of up to RM2,000.
At the moment, here is the pricing for the SUV:
- 2025 Proton X70 1.5 TGDi Standard: RM98,800
- 2025 Proton X70 1.5 TGDi Executive: RM110,800
- 2025 Proton X70 1.5 TGDi Premium: RM123,800
- 2025 Proton X70 1.5 TGDi Premium X: RM126,800
All four variants are powered by the GEP3 1.5L turbocharged TGDi 3-cylinder engine that has been in use since the 2023 X70 MC. This particular engine can deliver 130kW (174hp) of output alongside 255Nm of torque and was paired with a 7DCT.
