The tax holiday for fully imported (CBU) EVs has ended but you can still get good deals for EVs that have cleared customs before 28th December 2025.

If you’re in the market for a fully electric 7-seater SUV, the Kia EV9 GT-Line can be yours with a hefty RM120,000 discount.

These are not pre-registered units but new unregistered Kia EV9 stocks for the model year 2024. Like the Kia EV6, the EV9 is fully imported from South Korea.

As promoted by a Kia dealership at Seri Kembangan, the Kia EV9 GT-Line which is available in either 7-seater or 6-seater options can be yours from RM248,888.

The pricing puts the EV9 on par with the likes of the 7-seater Denza D9 but this is a three-row SUV and it offers faster charging thanks to its 800V architecture. According to JPJ Vehicle Registration database, there are only 47 Kia EV9 units registered in Malaysia so far.

The Kia EV9 was launched in Malaysia back in May 2024, and it is offered in GT-Line AWD trim in either 6-seater or 7-seater options.

According to the latest price list recently issued by Kia Sales Malaysia, the Kia EV9 GT-Line 7-seater is priced at RM368,888 while the 6-seater version is priced at RM373,888.

At the moment, this EV is offered in 4 exterior colours – Aurora Black Pearl, Pebble Gray, Ocean Blue and Iceberg Green, and all of them are equipped with the Brown and Black Leatherette interior.

The Kia EV9 GT-Line AWD variant comes with a dual-motor setup that delivers 283kW (380hp) and 700Nm of torque. This 2.6 tonne SUV can accelerate from 0-100km/h in 5.3 seconds, up to a top speed of 200km/h.

On the inside, it gets a three-display array consisting of two 12.3″ displays for infotainment and instrument cluster, plus a middle 5″ panel for climate control. The infotainment system supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and is equipped with a 14-speaker Meridian Sound System.

This EV is also equipped with side external cameras with digital monitors to replace the traditional side mirrors and there’s also a digital rear view mirror.

The Kia EV9 GT-Line AWD gets a 99.8kWh 800V NMC battery that boasts a WLTP-rated range of up to 505km on a single charge. It supports DC fast charging over 200kW and a 10-80% charge takes about 24 minutes.

If you’re not in a hurry, it supports three-phase 11kW AC Charging which takes over 10 hours to charge from 0-100%.

For the 6-seater version, the second row features two individual premium relaxation seats which offers adjustable reclining, sliding and leg rest. Meanwhile, the 7-seater version offers a bench for 3 passengers for the second row, and it can fold flat for maximum storage space.

In terms of storage, the EV9 gets a 333L boot which can be expanded up to 828L with the third row seats down. If you need more storage, there’s a frunk compartment under the bonnet with 52L capacity.

The Kia EV9 GT-Line is covered by a 5-year / 150,000km manufacturer warranty and 8-year / 160,000km EV battery warranty.
