TNB Electron is starting 2026 with a bang by launching the most powerful EV charging hub on Penang Island.

The Charge Point Operator is turning on a 400kW DC Charger at Bayan Lepas, and it is their largest public EV charging hub yet.

This is an ideal charging spot for those entering Penang Island with an EV as it is merely 3km away from the Penang Second Link Bridge or 4km away from Queensbay Mall.

In conjunction with the opening, TNB Electron is offering free charging for a limited time.

The new TNB Electron charging station is located at TNB PRCC Bayan Lepas. Unlike other TNB premises, this site is only open to the public from 7am to 12am daily.

For this location, they have deployed a TELD DC charging solution with a total capacity of 400kW and 5 bays.

Each CCS2 nozzle is rated for 250A. This means 800V EVs can get up to a maximum of 200kW, while 400V EVs can get up to a maximum of 100kW.

These chargers are priced at RM1.50 per kWh. There are no apps required and EV users can pay for charging by tapping a credit/debit card at the provided JuiceUP contactless card payment terminal.

To celebrate the opening of the new EV charging site, TNB Electron is providing complimentary charging during the testing phase from 9:00am on 1st January 2026 until 11:59pm on 2nd January 2026.
