The sixth-generation Nissan Serena e-Power has been previewed in Malaysia, introducing an electric motor-driven powertrain to the mid-sized MPV segment. The new system combines an electric motor with a petrol engine that acts solely as a generator, delivering performance similar to a full EV without the need for external charging.

Since its introduction in Japan in the 1990s, the Nissan Serena has been positioned as a versatile mid-sized MPV. In Malaysia, previous generations, including the C26 Serena S-Hybrid and C27 Serena S-Hybrid, offered fuel-saving technologies, practical interiors, and advanced safety features, making the model popular with family buyers.
The C28-generation Serena e-Power continues this approach with an electric motor-driven system designed to improve acceleration, responsiveness, and overall efficiency.

The Serena e-Power system features:
- Electric motor: 163PS, 315Nm
- Battery: 1.769kWh lithium-ion
- Engine: 1.4-litre HR14DDe 3-cylinder (generator only)
The petrol engine charges the battery and powers the motor as needed, while regenerative braking and a single-pedal driving function improve efficiency. The system provides instant torque and smooth acceleration, without the need for external charging.

An official launch date in Malaysia has not yet been announced. Interested buyers can follow updates and registration of interest through Nissan Malaysia’s website.
