BUDI95: Traffic summonses won’t affect your petrol subsidy, MOT clarifies

Can you still enjoy your BUDI95 fuel subsidy entitlement next year if you have outstanding summonses?

According to Ministry of Transport, all eligible Malaysians can still enjoy their RON95 subsidised price of RM1.99 per litre regardless if they have any pending summonses.

It added that there’s no automatic direct connection between the two mechanisms which are operating independently.

Under the BUDI95 policy, you are eligible to get 300L quota per month for subsidised RON95 fuel if you are a Malaysian citizen with MyKad and currently hold a valid driver’s licence.

Users can check their BUDI95 eligibility and remaining quota through the BUDI95 portal or authorised 3rd party apps such as TNG eWallet, Setel, Caltex Go and Shell.

It was reported earlier that there are 4.95 million unpaid JPJ summonses worth RM1.48 billion, and police summonses worth RM6.6 billion that have yet to be collected. Several reports earlier indicated that motorists may lose their BUDI95 entitlement as the petrol subsidy is tied to their driving licence.

To encourage motorists to settle their long-overdue summonses, JPJ and the police are offering discounts up to 70% until 30th December 2025.
