The iCaur V23 is set to launch in Malaysia very soon and it is the Chery sub-brand’s second EV model after the 03.
The V23 stands out as a fun-oriented compact SUV with retro Land Cruiser-ish styling in an fully electric package, but does it perform as well it looks?
Ahead of its official launch, iCaur had given us the opportunity to try out its off-roading capabilities at Kev Advenduro Park in Gamuda Gardens.
We had a lot of fun with this fully electric SUV and it makes casual off-roading super easy even for newbies. Check out the video below:
The iCaur V23 is offered in two variants in Malaysia, the 2WD and iWD version. For this off-road course, they have given us the iWD version with dual motors delivering 155kW (208hp) and 292Nm of torque.
On paper, this EV has a 0-100km/h time of 7.5 seconds and has a rated top speed of 140km/h.
For this range topping model, the V23 iWD gets a large 81.76kWh NMC battery but it has a rather low NEDC-rated range of 430km. This shouldn’t come as a surprise due to its not so aerodynamic boxy shape. The windshield itself has a high rake angle which would result in higher coefficient of drag.
When it comes to charging, the V23 supports DC charging up to 104kW and AC charging up to 6.6kW. It also supports Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) with a power output of 3.3kW.
According to its off-roading credentials, the V23 has a max gradeability of 40% and a decent ground clearance of 210mm. It also has a rather impressive max water wading depth of 600mm, which is double that of the Suzuki Jimny.
The EV also has an approach angle of 42° and departure angle of 41°, made possible by its short overhangs.
The iCaur V23 is expected to be priced between RM145,000 to RM155,000. But stay tuned as the full details including the launch promo will be revealed very soon.
