Maxis lets you switch to a new iPhone every year without paying extra. Here’s how it works

Suppose you’ve always wanted to be at the top of the tech game by upgrading to the latest iPhone every year, without having to wait for your device instalment plan to finish. In that case, Maxis may have just granted your wish with the launch of the Maxis Yearly Upgrade Programme.

As its name suggests, the new programme allows you to upgrade to a new iPhone every year at no extra cost, as long as you meet a few simple conditions.

Who’s eligible for the Yearly Upgrade Programme?

The Yearly Upgrade Programme is available for both new and existing Maxis customers. Here’s how it works for each group:

For new customers

  • Purchase the iPhone 17 series (excluding iPhone Air)
  • Subscribe to a Maxis Postpaid 139 plan or above
  • Choose either a 24-month or 36-month Zerolution device instalment plan

Once your remaining commitment period reaches 12 months or less, you’ll be eligible to upgrade to the next-generation iPhone under this programme.

For existing customers

If you’re already a Maxis user with either the iPhone 15 or iPhone 16 series, and with a remaining commitment period of 12 months or less, you may still be eligible:

  • Own a contracted iPhone 16 series device (purchased before 12 September 2025), or
  • Own a contracted iPhone 15 series device (purchased before 29 September 2024)
  • Be on, or upgrade to, a Maxis Postpaid 139 plan or higher (Zerolution)

What does “no extra cost” really mean?

Eligible customers won’t have to pay any early termination or upgrade fees when switching to the latest iPhone, provided they return their current iPhone in good working condition.

Your trade-in device must:

  • Have fully functional hardware and software
  • Not be jailbroken or modified
  • Have no deep scratches, cracks, dents, or signs of liquid damage

If your phone meets these standards, you can trade it in and walk out with a brand-new iPhone as part of your existing Maxis commitment.

How to upgrade?

When you reach the eligible period (12 months or less remaining), you may visit a Maxis Store or the Maxis Online Store to get your new iPhone upgrade. You’ll trade in your current iPhone, select your new one, and start a new Zerolution commitment under the same or a higher Postpaid plan.

For more information on the Maxis Yearly Upgrade Programme, you may visit the official Maxis website, as well as its FAQ page.
