Due to the ongoing tariff situation in the US, it has been reported that Apple is shifting new iPhone production from China to India for US-bound devices.

But what about Malaysia? Are we getting ‘’Made in India” iPhones?

We just got our hands on the latest devices and we can confirm that the iPhone 17, iPhone Air and iPhone 17 Pro for Malaysia are still “Made in China”. If you’re still unconvinced, here’s a closeup of the labels for each of the boxes which also appears to be bound for Vietnam.

While Apple is expanding production in India, China still remains Apple’s major production hub and it still plays a vital role in making new iPhone models at scale for the global market.

Regardless of where the iPhones are made, all devices will have to comply with Apple’s stringent standards of quality. On top of that, there’s no substantial evidence indicating that an iPhone assembled in one country is better than the other.

The iPhone 17, iPhone Air and iPhone 17 Pro series are officially available in Malaysia this Friday, 19 September 2025. Pre-orders have started since last Friday, 12 September 2025.

The iPhone 17 is priced from RM3,999 while the iPhone 17 Pro series starts from RM5,499. Meanwhile, the new ultra-slim iPhone Air is priced from RM4,999. Apple has discontinued its 128GB storage offering, making 256GB the new bare minimum storage option for the new iPhone lineup.
