Sony Malaysia has officially launched the Sony Xperia 1 VII, its latest flagship smartphone, priced at RM6,499. The device is now available through Sony’s official online store, with three colour options: Slate Black, Moss Green, and Orchid Purple.
As part of an early bird promotion, buyers will receive a pair of Sony WH-1000XM6 wireless headphones worth RM2,099 for free. The offer is valid until 5 October 2025.
The Xperia 1 VII features a 6.5-inch OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, 1,080 × 2,340 resolution, and full DCI-P3 colour coverage. It also comes with stereo speakers, a 3.5mm headphone jack, side-mounted fingerprint sensor, and a dedicated shutter button.
The Sony Xperia 1 VII is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, paired with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage, expandable up to 2TB via microSDXC. A 5,000mAh battery supports 30W wired charging, 15W wireless charging, and reverse charging. The device runs on Android 15 with four years of OS upgrades and six years of security updates.
For cameras, the Xperia 1 VII carries a triple rear setup: a 48MP 1/1.56-inch wide sensor, a 12MP telephoto with up to 170mm focal length, and a 48MP ultrawide. On the front, there’s a 12MP selfie camera.
Sony says the Xperia 1 VII integrates technologies from its Alpha cameras, Walkman audio players, and BRAVIA TVs. Key features include AI Camerawork and Auto Framing, which use AI for subject tracking, framing, and video stabilisation. The ultrawide sensor has been upgraded with a larger 48MP 1/1.56-inch unit that enables clearer low-light and macro shots, while the telephoto offers continuous optical zoom between 85mm and 170mm.
On the audio side, Sony has fitted circuitry derived from its Walkman series to improve wired headphone performance. DSEE Ultimate AI upscaling enhances compressed streaming audio, while the stereo speakers have been retuned for clearer sound.
The phone also gains display enhancements such as a rear-mounted light sensor for brightness and colour adjustment, plus “Sunlight Vision” for better visibility outdoors.
