ChargeSini announced that its two 60kW DC chargers at the Mayang Mall in Kuala Terengganu are now back in service. Capable of supporting up to 4 EVs at a time, they were taken offline back in March due to licensing issues.

ChargeSini Mayang Mall is essentially the largest DC charging hub in the town. As the deactivation took place just a few days before Hari Raya Aidilfitri, it has caused some concern among EV owners who were planning to spend their holidays in Kuala Terengganu.

Price-wise, both chargers still have a charging fee of RM1.39 per kWh, just like before. There is also an idle fee of RM1.00 per minute, although there is a grace period of 15 minutes after your charging finishes, and the idle fee will only kick in if the location’s occupation rate is more than 50% at the said time.

You can check out the availability and activate the DC chargers in Mayang Mall using the ChargeSini mobile app. Proton e.MAS 7, Smart #1, and Smart #3 owners are also able to utilise these chargers using Proton e.MAS or Hello Smart apps which were made possible through the collaboration between Pro-Net and ChargeSini, although the charging fee is slightly higher at RM1.55 per kWh.

Kuala Terengganu now has more DC chargers than before

When ChargeSini Mayang Mall were deactivated, we pointed out how Kuala Terengganu is in need of more public DC chargers. While the statement remains true, three new DC charging spots have since gone online between March and June this year:

  • Go To-U Pantai Batu Buruk: 120kW with 2 nozzles – RM1.40 per kWh
  • Go To-U Dataran Shah Bandar: 120kW with 2 nozzles – RM1.40 per kWh
  • Gentari Pusat Sains & Kreativiti Terengganu: 120kW with 2 nozzles – RM1.60 per kWh

Considering existing DC charging points such as ChargeSini Mayang Mall, Mydin Mall Gong Badak and Proton e.MAS KT (Indahsari NEV) as well as BMW Millennium Walt KT, Kuala Terengganu now has 16 DC charging bays. Do note that the charger at Go To-U Dataran Shah Bandar is currently under maintenance at the time this article was published.
