OnePlus 13T debuts as the brand’s compact flagship with Snapdragon 8 Elite, but no Hasselblad camera

Remember the OnePlus T phones? If you don’t, the T phones were basically like Apple’s “s” iPhones from back in the day — incrementally updated versions of the brand’s flagship smartphones from the year before. Since 2021, OnePlus has stopped using the naming convention, with the last “T” phone being the OnePlus 8T, which was released back in 2020.

Now, it seems like OnePlus T phones are back, as the company has debuted the OnePlus 13T in China. Although packing identical flagship specs to the OnePlus 13, such as the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, the OnePlus 13T couldn’t be more different from the OnePlus 13 and isn’t meant to be the successor to the full-blown 13, but is instead the brand’s compact flagship.

OnePlus 13T specs: Xiaomi Mi 11 vibes, no Hasselblad cameras

Although part of the OnePlus 13 series, the 13T looks nothing like the full-blown OnePlus 13 flagship. In fact, its rear camera island design interestingly looks as if it’s inspired by the Xiaomi Mi 11.

With a different camera island design, you also get a different camera system. Instead of the Hasselblad tri-50MP camera setup you get on the 13, the OnePlus 13T sports only two of them without input from Hasselblad.

The main camera is a 50MP f/1.8 unit with OIS, while the second shooter is a 50MP f/2.0 2x telephoto camera. So, no ultra-wide camera over here, which is a missed opportunity, at least in yours truly’s opinion.

Flip the phone around, and you will be looking at a 16MP f/2.4 front camera, housed within a punch hole. Positioned around and below the front camera is a 6.3″ Full HD+ (2640×1216) LTPO AMOLED display with a refresh rate of up to 120Hz.

Like the OnePlus 13, the 13T is powered by Qualcomm’s latest and greatest mobile chipset — the Snapdragon 8 Elite. This processor can be paired with up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. Connectivity-wise, the 13T is equipped with WiFi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4.

Keeping the OnePlus 13T “alive” is a 6,260mAh battery that can handle wired charging using an 80W USB-C cable. In China, the OnePlus 13T runs on Oppo’s ColorOS 15. However, you can expect the international model to utilise OnePlus’ own OxygenOS 15 instead, which is essentially identical.

OnePlus 13T pricing in China, international launch details

In China, the OnePlus 13T is priced from RMB 3,399 (~RM2,036)for the base 12GB+256GB configuration. But with the early bird rebate, the phone can be had from just RMB 2,899 (~RM1,737). The range-topping 16GB+1TB configuration sports a retail price of RMB 4,499 (~RM2,695).

Already debuted in China, the OnePlus 13T is expected to reach international shelves soon, but no launch dates have been laid out just yet.
