Nothing to launch CMF Phone 2 Pro and three earbuds on 28 April

Shortly after launching the Nothing Phone 3(a) series, the UK-based brand is launching at least four more products under its more “affordable” CMF sub-brand. As confirmed on X, CMF by Nothing will be introducing the CMF Phone 2 Pro alongside three audio products, namely the Buds 2, Buds 2a and Buds 2 Plus.

The CMF Phone 2 Pro is seen as the successor to its affordable CMF Phone 1 which retailed for RM1,099 in Malaysia. With its new “Pro” moniker, it appears that the new CMF smartphone will be more premium while maintaining its industrial aesthetic.

New wonderful things.

The upcoming CMF event is scheduled for Monday 28th April 2025 at 2:00 BST (9:00pm Malaysian Time). We can probably expect a live stream video on its YouTube channel and it is likely that pre-orders will be available shortly after the global unveiling.

As tweeted by CMF a few days ago, the upcoming CMF smartphone will come with a new finish that’s said to be textured and tactile. It also retains physical screws on the back, which means that users would be able to customise the backplate of the devices like the current CMF Phone 1.

It isn’t clear if Nothing will be releasing just one device or if there’s a possibility of a cheaper “non-Pro” version of the upcoming phone.

Based on what has been speculated so far, the new CMF Phone 2 is rumoured to feature a 6.3″ Full HD+ 120Hz display with a MediaTek Dimensity 7400 chip.

On the previous CMF Phone 1, the device came with a dual-camera setup which consists of a 50MP f/1.8 main shooter and a secondary camera for portrait effects. However, it seems that Nothing may add a third camera that functions as a ultra-wide-angle lens for the new CMF Phone.

The new smartphone is likely to retain a similar 5,000mAh battery capacity along with a 33W fast charging rate via USB-C.

The CMF Phone 1 was one of the most interesting budget smartphones last year thanks to its modular rear panel design and affordable price. However, one thing it lacks was NFC and that’s a hinderance for those who want to top up their Enhanced TNG card or enable mobile payments such as Google Pay. Hopefully, NFC will be included on the new CMF Phone 2 Pro.
