This post is brought to you by vivo.

vivo Malaysia has just launched its latest premium midrange smartphone, the vivo V50. You might not be able to tell it apart from its predecessor, the V40, at first glance. But under the hood, it does bring a few useful upgrades.

vivo V50 Malaysia price and availability

The vivo V50 is offered with three configurations in Malaysia. Here are their prices:

  • V50 (12GB RAM + 256GB storage) – RM1,999
  • V50 (12GB RAM + 512GB storage) – RM2,399
  • V50 (8GB RAM + 256GB storage) – RM1,899 (online exclusive)

Between now and the 21st of March 2025, you can pre-order the vivo V50 and get free gifts worth up to RM1,335. This includes a complimentary 18″ luggage worth RM139 and vivo Buds worth RM129.

You also get, among other things, a 1+1-year extended warranty, a 1-year screen protection warranty, a 1-year back cover protection warranty, and a 30% PWP discount when you purchase a vivo Watch 3. Additionally, there’s a RM100 cash rebate when you purchase the 512GB variant.

vivo V50 Malaysia specs and features

In terms of colour options, the vivo V50 is available in three shades, namely Ancora Red, Mist Purple, Satin Black. At the front, the vivo V50 sports a 6.77” Full HD+ display that puts out a resolution of 2392 x 1080 pixels, and a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. Powering the vivo V50 is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chip, which can be paired with up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage.

In the imaging department, the vivo V50, like its predecessor, is equipped with rear cameras that have been co-engineered with Zeiss. The camera lineup consists of a 50MP f/1.88 main camera that comes with a 1/1.55” sensor and OIS, and a 50MP f/2.0 ultrawide angle. At the front, you get a 50MP f/2.9 selfie shooter.

vivo says it has equipped its camera system with its VCS Camera-Bionic Spectrum, which “enhances image quality by mimicking the human eye for purer, truer colours”.

There’s also a ring flash that’s larger than before, called the AI Aura Light Portrait 2.0 flash. Utilising AI, it produces light that’s claimed to be approximately 143 times softer than a regular flash. You can even use the ring flash as a notification light. Also new are two cinematic portrait lighting styles – Rembrandt Lighting and Butterfly Lighting – designed to enhance your portraits.

The main improvement the vivo V50 brings over its predecessor is a larger 6,000mAh battery, which can charge at 90W via vivo’s FlashCharge technology. All of these are protected from water and dust thanks to the device being rated for IP68/69. Software-wise, the vivo V50 runs on the brand’s Funtouch OS 15, based on Android 15.
