Tecno has debuted its latest smartphones, the Tecno Camon 40 series, at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025, in Barcelona, Spain. The series features a total of four models, namely the Tecno Camon 40, Camon 40 Pro, Camon 40 Pro 5G, and Camon 40 Premier 5G.
Tecno Camon 40 series comes standard with a 50MP Sony camera, large high refresh rate AMOLED displays
With the Tecno Camon 40 and Camon 40 Pro, you get a 6.78-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 2436 x 1080 pixels and a refresh rate of 120Hz. Also identical between these two models is the MediaTek Helio G100 Ultimate chipset they’re powered by, along with up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. Both models also get the same 5,200mAh battery that can be charged via Tecno’s wired Super Charge technology at 45W.
Imaging-wise, the Tecno Camon 40 series gets the same 50MP f/1.9 OIS-equipped main camera with Sony’s 1/1.56-inch LYT-701 sensor. Both the Tecno Camon 40 and Camon 40 Pro also get an 8MP wide-angle shooter. As for selfies, the Camon 40 sports a 32MP front camera, while the Camon 40 Pro gets more resolution at 50MP.
Stepping up to the Tecno Camon 40 Pro 5G will get you the same display but with a higher 144Hz refresh rate, along with a more powerful MediaTek Dimensity 7300 chipset. By the way, all models except for the vanilla Camon 40 get IP68/69 rating for dust and water resistance.
Tecno Camon 40 Premier gets 1.5K 144Hz AMOLED screen, triple 50MP camera
As the heading reads, the Tecno Camon 40 Premier comes with an even higher resolution 1.5K (2800 x 1260 pixels) display with a refresh rate of 144Hz. Interestingly, its panel is the smallest of the lot, measuring at 6.67 inches. Still, Tecno boasts a screen-to-body ratio of 94% and a peak brightness of 4,500 nits with this panel.
You also get a performance bump with the Tecno Camon 40 Premier thanks to the Dimensity 8350 Ultimate chipset it comes with, paired with up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.
In the camera department, you still get the same 50MP main shooter with the Sony LYT-701 sensor. However, it also gets a 50MP 3x periscope telephoto camera with OIS, along with a 50MP wide angle.
Like its screen size, the Tecno Camon 40 Premier’s battery is also the smallest of the lot, albeit smaller by a mere 100mAh. As an exchange, this 5,100mAh cell can receive charge faster at 70W.
Tecno Camon 40 series Malaysia availability
We were told by Tecno Malaysia reps that they will be bringing two models from the Tecno Camon 40 series, namely the Camon 40 Pro and Camon 40 Pro 5G to our market. We can expect their local market launch to happen as soon as this month (March 2025).
