Xiaomi has just made its first device launch of the year, by debuting the Redmi Turbo 4. It’s essentially the twin to the Poco X7 Pro which is set to make its global launch on the 9th of January 2025.

Redmi Turbo 4 specs and features

On the outside, the Redmi Turbo 4 sports a clean design with glass panels on the front and back, wrapped with an aluminium frame. At the back of the device is a vertically aligned camera island that looks to be inspired by the likes of the iPhone 16.

However, these camera lenses do go the extra mile by doing double duty as LED ring lights, which reminds me of design elements found past Sony Xperia smartphones. Anybody remember the Xperia NXT series?

Anyway, back to the Redmi Turbo 4. Those LED ring lights can flash when notifications come in, or to indicate the phone’s charging status. It can even pulse to the rhythm of the music it’s playing.

Flip the Redmi Tubro 4 around and you will be looking at a 6.67-inch AMOLED display that pushes out 2712 x 1220 pixels of resolution, resulting in a pixel density of 446ppi. This panel also has a refresh rate of 120Hz and a peak brightness of 3,200 nits.

Powering the Redmi Turbo 4 is MediaTek’s 4nm-based Dimensity 8400 Ultra chipset, which can be paired with up to 16GB of RAM in China.

In the imaging department, the Redmi Turbo 4 comes with a dual camera setup at the back, consisting of a 50MP f/1.5 main camera with a 1/1.95” Sony LYT-600 sensor and OIS, along with an 8MP f/2.2 ultrawide shooter. Up front, you get a 20MP f/2.2 selfie shooter.

The phone is IP68 rated, making it resistant against dust and water for up to 2 metres for 30 minutes. As for its battery, the Redmi Turbo 4 is fitted with a 6,550mAh cell that’s said to be capable of withstanding up to 1,600 charging cycles, while still remaining at least 80% battery state-of-health (SOH).

Software-wise, the Redmi Turbo 4 runs on Xiaomi’s HyperOS 2, built atop Google’s Android 15.

Redmi Tubro 4 price and availability

In China, the Redmi Turbo 4 is offered with four configurations, packing up to 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. There are three colour options to choose from, namely white, black, and green.

Prices for the device start from RMB1,999 (~RM1,229) for the 256GB+12GB variant and tops out at RMB2,499 (~RM1,537) for the range-topping 512GB+16GB model.
