During the final week of 2024, Gentari has deployed a couple of EV chargers in the state of Penang. This includes Ikea Batu Kawan on the mainland and their very first Gentari EV charging location on Penang Island.
Gentari AC and DC charge points at Ikea Batu Kawan Penang
For Ikea Batu Kawan, Penang, Gentari has deployed a 60kW DC Charger with two CCS2 nozzles, and two 22kW AC charge points. The DC chargers are suitable for those who need a quick top up while the AC charge points are ideal for those who intend to spend more time at the mall.
Similar to other Gentari EV Charging sites, the DC charger is priced at RM1.50 per kWh, while the AC charge points are priced at RM1.05 per kWh. To activate and pay for the charger, you can use the Gentari Go app.
If you have an annual Gentari Go membership, you can get 50% off on all charging sessions on the Gentari network.
Gentari EV chargers at Bangunan Lip Sin Gelugor
Besides Ikea, Gentari has also deployed 4x AC charge points at Bangunan Lip Sin Basement 1 carpark. The new location marks Gentari’s first EV charger on Penang Island as its previous deployments in the state were mostly focused on the mainland.
Unlike other locations, these EV chargers are using time-based pricing. The 1x 22kW AC charge point costs RM0.25 per minute (RM15/hour) while the 3x 7kW AC charge points are priced at RM0.15 per minute (RM9/hour). If you have a Gentari annual membership, the charger would cost RM7.50/hour for 22kW AC and RM4.5/hour for 7kW AC.
