Proton e.MAS 7 has been awarded a 5-star rating for its safety capabilities by ASEAN NCAP. This was revealed during the EV’s grand launch event today.
Prior to this, ASEAN NCAP has also awarded a 5-star rating to several Proton cars including the Proton X70 and X50 SUVs as well as the Proton S70 sedan. Aside from that, Proton Saga has also been rated as a 4-star model.
Proton e.MAS 7 scores 92.57 out of 100 points
According to the test report, the new EV was tested under the ASEAN NCAP 2021 – 2015 assessment protocol.
It covers four assessment factors including the Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) which represents 40.00 points of the overall score. The three other factors are Child Occupant Protection (COP), Safety Assist (SA), and Motorcyclist Safety (MS) which cover 20.00 points each.
The new e.MAS 7 was awarded 39.00 points for AOP while the EV’s COP factor received 17.32 points. As for SA and MS, ASEAN NCAP rated the EV with 20.00 and 16.21 points respectively.
Overall, the e.MAS 7 managed to score 92.57 out of the possible 100 points. The new EV currently ranked the highest among all the vehicles that were tested by ASEAN NCAP this year ahead of other 5-star recipients such as Chery Omoda 5 (88.64), GAC Emzoom (88.39), Honda Accord (87.44), and Mitsubishi Xforce (79.15).
Of course, e.MAS 7 is leaps and bounds over the other EV that ASEAN NCAP tested this year which is the Neta V. As you may have heard Neta V was given a Zero-Star rating due to its low score of 28.55 points.

In general, the 5-star rating from ASEAN NCAP didn’t come as a surprise though. For starters, Proton e.MAS 7 is essentially the first Proton model to be equipped with an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) as a standard and not limited to just the high-spec model.
In addition to that, the new electric SUV is equipped with 6 airbags that are inclusive of side curtain airbags that cover both the front and rear occupants of e.MAS 7. Other features that also come as standard for all e.MAS 7 includes a 360-degree view camera and auto hold.
