If you own a Tesla and an Apple Watch, you can now control your EV directly from your wrist. As part of the Holiday Update, Tesla has finally rolled its native Apple Watch support which acts an extension to the Tesla app on the iPhone. The feature is rolled out worldwide including Tesla owners in Malaysia.

Besides monitoring your Tesla from the watch, the Apple Watch can now double as a digital key, allowing you to unlock your Tesla without carrying your phone.

From the Tesla app on the Apple Watch, you can view your EV’s current state of charge (battery %), remaining range and view charging status. You can also open the frunk and turn on the air conditioning from your wrist.

If you can’t find the Tesla app on your Watch, just launch the Watch app on your iPhone, scroll down and you should see Tesla as an available app. Tap on Install and follow the instructions to complete the installation.

Besides the added Apple Watch support, the updated Tesla app allows users to view dashcam and sentry mode videos on the phone and have the option to save the clips. This allows you to quickly edit and share the videos remotely.

In addition, Tesla is also enabling auto shift between Drive and Reverse on the updated Tesla Model 3 without stalks. The feature aims to make parking maneuvers and multi-point turns easier as it intelligently shifts between D and R based on your current scenario.

Speaking of parking, the new update also brings Rear Cross Traffic Alert which will emit an audio alert if a vehicle or pedestrian is passing behind you while reversing out from a parking spot.

Other enhancements include the ability to set the minimum battery charge level when you arrive at the destination for the built-in route planning.
