JAC Motors and its local partner Evolvelectric Motors have officially launched the JAC T9 EV. While it might not be the first electric pickup truck in our market, the T9 EV is still the first electric 4×4 pickup in Malaysia.
For Malaysia, the JAC T9 EV is available in a single variant and will be rolled out into the market in early 2025. The exact pricing is still under wraps for now but Evolvelectric Motors is currently offering it for under RM200,000 for the first 100 customers that book the pickup by 31 December 2024.
The electric 4×4 pickup truck can be obtained in several colourways including Red, Black, Dark Grey, Silver, and White. If you choose Black or Silver, the interior would be Brown while the Red and Grey versions feature a Black interior.
For the White model, customers can choose to have its interior with either Brown or Black. In terms of warranty, the JAC T9 EV comes standard with a 6-year / 200,000km warranty.
Previewed today alongside its diesel-powered twin, the JAC T9 EV dual-motor setup delivers a total power output of 230kW (308hp) alongside a total peak torque of 516Nm and a top speed of 140km/h. Powered by an 88kWh LFP battery that was sourced from CATL, this 4×4 electric pickup truck is able to provide up to 340km of WLTP-rated range.
Charging-wise, the JAC T9 EV can support a DC charging speed of 88kW which allows its battery level to go from 30% to 80% in 35 minutes. As for AC charging, it takes around 6 hours and 50 minutes to charge from 15% to 100% through its 3-phase 11kW AC onboard charger.
The electric pickup truck also features a 10.4-inch infotainment touchscreen with support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. There’s also a 7-inch digital instrument cluster for the benefit of the driver alongside a 50W wireless phone charger, USB-A ports with output as high as 18W and a 60W USB-C port.
JAC T9 EV has also been fitted with 7 airbags and a 360-degree camera. While the preview unit doesn’t appear to have the module, we were told that the electric pickup truck will come with a full-fledged Advanced Driving Assistance System (ADAS) suite that includes Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Integrated Cruise Assist (ICA), Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), Blind Spot Detection (BSD), and Intelligent High Beam Control (IHBC).
Aside from the electric version, JAC Motors and Evolvelectric Motors today have also launched the diesel variant of the JAC T9. Both of these models looked identical to each other but there are a couple of differences between them which you can spot without opening their hood.
Aside from the label on their tailgates, the JAC logo on the front grille of the T9 EV is in blue while the diesel model is in red. Aside from that, the T9 EV is equipped with Chao Yang SU318a H/T tyres while the diesel-powered T9 has Toyo Open Country H/T Z although both variants still run on 18-inch wheels and 265/60 tyres.
