Sony has launched three new products under its LinkBuds lineup. This includes two new true wireless earbuds, namely the LinkBuds Fit and the LinkBuds Open, as well as the new LinkBuds Speaker.

Sony LinkBuds Fit, LinkBuds Open, and LinkBuds Speaker Malaysia pricing and availability

At the moment, three of the new LinkBuds products have yet to be made available to the Malaysian market, with pre-orders for the products to start from the 1st of November 2024. However, pricing details for the LinkBuds Fit and LinkBuds Open have already been published on Sony Malaysia’s website, being listed at RM999 each.

To be made available starting January next year (2025), pricing details for the Sony LinkBuds Speaker are not available for the Malaysian market just yet. For context, it is sold in the USA at USD180 (approx. RM760).

Sony LinkBuds Fit specs and features

As its name suggests, the Sony LinkBuds Fit is marketed as true wireless headphones designed for those with an active lifestyle. It sports newly developed Air Fitting Supporters and earbud tips, which Sony says allow the earbuds to be worn comfortably all day long. For durability’s sake, the Sony LinkBuds Fit is rated at IPX4 for water resistance.

On the audio side of things, the Sony LinkBuds is equipped with the Japanese marque’s Dynamic Driver X driver unit as well as Integrated Processor V2, which are found in Sony’s flagship WF-1000XM5 true wireless earbuds It also supports the brand’s High-Res Audio Wireless and Digital Sound Enhancement Engine (DSEE) Extreme audio upscaling technology.

Like the LinkBuds S, the LinkBuds Fit also come with Sony’s active noise cancellation (ANC) technology. There is also the Auto Ambient Sound Mode, which as its name suggests, automatically adjusts the level of ambient sound pumped into the earbuds, depending on the user’s surroundings.

Sony has also packed the LinkBuds Fit with Auto Switch which swaps playback between LinkBuds earbuds automatically, depending on the users’ situations or needs, as well as Auto Play which plays music according to your routine. These features are also available in the LinkBuds Open and LinkBuds Speaker.

The LinkBuds Fit and LinkBuds Open also feature Multipoint Connection, which allows the user to switch easily between two audio sources without needing to go through the standard Bluetooth reconnection. Sony says the LinkBuds Fit has a battery life of up to 21 hours of total playback.

In terms of colours, the Sony LinkBuds Fit can be had in black, white, or green. Sony has also continued its collaboration with singer/songwriter Olivia Rodrigo and is offering the LinkBuds Fit and the LinkBuds Open with the artist’s signature violet colour, along with two custom EQs and an EQ user interface designed by Olivia.

Sony LinkBuds Open specs and features

Essentially a successor to the original LinkBuds introduced back in 2022, the Sony LinkBuds Open is the brand’s latest open-style true wireless earbuds and features improvements Sony says it has made based on customers’ feedback.

The Sony LinkBuds Open features an open-ring design with its newly developed 11 mm driver unit fitted inside that allows users to still be able to hear their surroundings. In order to provide all-day wearing comfort, Sony has designed the LinkBuds Open with new and light Fiiting Supporters. Like the LinkBuds Fit, the LinkBuds Open is also powered by Sony’s Integrated Processor V2 and is packed with Sony’s DSEE audio upscaling feature as well.

Sony says that the LinkBuds Open has a battery life of up to 22 hours of total playback. It’s rated at IPX4 for water resistance and is available in three colourways, including Black, White, and the Olivia Rodrigo Violet colour.
