The HMD Barbie Phone is now available in Malaysia following its global unveiling last month. Made possible through a collaboration with Mattel, you may be able to spot this device from miles away given its Power Pink colourway.
In a world full of smartphones, is there still a place for a feature phone? If you ask HMD, the answer would be a resounding yes and the company is even asking consumers out there to “take a vacation from your smartphone” with the new Barbie Phone.
HMD Barbie Phone has tons of extra items
Aside from spotting Barbie’s signature colourway and a mirror on its front area, there’s also a massive Barbie logo on its back cover. If that’s too much for you, you can swap it out with any of the two additional back covers that come with the phone.
Not only that, HMD has also included a beaded lanyard and phone charms with the device. Barbie Phone owners can further customise their device with stick-on crystals and Barbie-themed stickers.
All of these are nicely packed into a Barbie x HMD jewellery box but the party didn’t end there though.
Barbie’s touch on the phone is not limited to exterior aesthetics
The new Barbie Phone even features a custom user interface that has Barbie app icons and wallpapers. HMD has also included Barbie-themed easter eggs, camera frame, a Malibu Snake game and even a “Hi Barbie!” boot-up sound.
Being a feature phone, there is nothing much to shout about its hardware. Running on a Unisoc T107 processor, the S30+-based phone has 64MB (that’s right, MB!) RAM and 128MB internal storage which can be expanded further through microSD card with storage of up to 32GB.
The Barbie Phone also has a 2.8-inch QVGA main display and another 1.77-inch QQVGA display that is positioned within the mirror on the front part of the device. With a talk time of up of 9 hours, the device also has a 0.3MP camera, a removable 1450mAh battery, a USB-C port, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and support for Bluetooth 5.0.
Price-wise, the HMD Official Store on Lazada has listed the Barbie Phone at RM699. However, you can currently get your hands on it at the store for RM609.
