Apple has just announced the date and time it will be holding its upcoming 2024 September event. Along with the announcement poster is a tagline that reads “It’s Glowtime”. Could this be an indication towards the new “glowing Siri” in Apple Intelligence?
When and where is the Apple September event happening?
The 2024 Apple September event will be held on the 10th of September, at 1:00 AM (Malaysian time). The venue is as usual at the Steve Jobs Theater located within Apple Park.
How to watch the event online?
Apple will be live-streaming the event on its website, as well as on its YouTube channel. You can also watch the event through the Apple TV app.
What will Apple be launching?
The iPhone 16 lineup is most likely to be introduced during this event, featuring the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and the iPhone 16 Pro Max. The non-pro iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus are expected to feature a new vertically aligned camera layout at the back, at least based on photos of dummy units that have been shared online.
The more expensive iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max on the other hand are rumoured to sport larger screens along with thinner bezels. The screen sizes are expected to be expanded to 6.3″ for the iPhone 16 Pro and 6.9″ for the iPhone 16 Pro Max, which are 0.2″ larger than their predecessors. A new bronze colour option is also expected to be added to the lineup, while the Action button is expected to stay.
Speaking of buttons, Apple is also expected to introduce a new dedicated camera shutter button to its upcoming iPhone 16 lineup. Said to be located on the right side of the phone, right below the power button, the new button is reported to come with built-in gestures, such as swipe to zoom in and out, or soft press to autofocus. However, it is not clear if this feature will be made exclusive to just the Pro phones.
Aside from new iPhones, Apple is rumoured to also be introducing the Apple Watch Series 10 during its September event. The new watch lineup is said to come with larger displays and thinner bodies, which isn’t the major redesign some are hoping for. We could also be seeing the Apple Watch SE and Apple Watch Ultra receiving new model updates as well.
Last but not least, Apple could also be introducing its AirPods 4 lineup during the event. Reported to feature two models, with one of them featuring noise cancellation, these new wireless earbuds are set to succeed the AirPods 2 and AirPods 3.
What about Apple Intelligence?
Apple’s AI suite, branded as Apple Intelligence, is reported to not be making its launch in the upcoming September event. Instead, it will most probably be released via software updates that will be rolled out sometime in October.
Currently, Apple Intelligence is only made available for the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max, at least in Beta form. The AI suite is rumoured to be featured in the whole iPhone 16 lineup.
