Xiaomi Malaysia has just reduced the price of the Redmi A3 to just RM349, down from its original retail price of RM429. This makes it one of the most affordable smartphones in the market right now.

Where to get this deal?

To get the Redmi A3 at RM349, you will have to purchase it from either Xiaomi Malaysia’s online store or official Lazada store. On the brand’s official Shopee store, the Redmi A3 is still retailing at its original launch price of RM429.

Redmi A3 quick specs

First made its Malaysian market launch in March this year (2024), the Redmi A3 sports a rather premium-looking design, considering its asking price. At the back of the smartphone is a large circular camera bump which Xiaomi calls the “Premium Halo Design”. The Olive Green colour option gives you a matte leather-like finish while picking the Midnight Black and Lake Blue colour options will leave you with a glass panel.

At the face of the Redmi A3 is a 6.71″ HD+ (1650 x 720p) LCD display that sports a 90Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 500 nits. The display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3 for scratch resistance.

At the heart of the Redmi A3 is a Mediatek Helio G36 processor, paired with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. You can also expand the storage space by up to 1TB using a microSD card, a feature which is now rare with more expensive smartphones. It even sports a 3.5mm audio jack just in case your wireless headphones run out of juice.

The rear camera bump houses two lenses. This includes an 8MP, f/2.0 main shooter that can shoot videos at up to 1080p at 30fps, as well as a 0.08MP auxiliary lens. At the front however is a 5MP, f/2.2 camera for you to shoot your selfies with.

Powering the Redmi A3 is a 5,000mAh battery pack, which can be replenished via USB-C at a maximum charging rate of 10W. The Redmi A3 comes out of the box with the brand’s MIUI skin, on top of Android 14. Xiaomi promises to support the A3 with two years of major Android OS updates, along with three years of security patches.
