EVPower has expanded its EV charging network once again with the opening of the new charging hub at Menara Hartamas in Johor Bahru. Alongside the launch, the Charge Point Operator (CPO) has also announced its new partnership with Volvo Pekin Auto.
Pay with a card or app, the choice is yours
Located in Taman Mount Austin, the new hub can support up to four EVs simultaneously. Two charging bays are covered by a 120kW DC charger with the dynamic power sharing feature being enabled.
This means each charging bay can deliver DC charging speed up to 60kW if the charger is fully occupied. As for the other two charging bays, they are covered by 22kW AC chargers each.
Through a collaboration with JuiceUp, EV owners can utilise any chargers at EVPower’s new hub at Menara Hartamas without the need to download any mobile app. This is because they can simply pay for their charging fee using a credit or debit card.
Naturally, there will be a pre-authorisation amount involved. Interestingly, we were told by EVPower’s customer service that users can select RM50, RM100, or RM150 as the pre-authorisation amount.
The charging will stop automatically once the charging fee hits 95% of your pre-authorisation amount. In other words, depending on the pre-authorisation amount that you choose, the charging will stop when the fee hits RM47.50, RM95, and RM142.50, respectively.
As for a refund on the unused pre-authorised amount, it should take an average of 2 to 3 days or slightly longer for debit cards. If the charging session somehow fails regardless of the reason, the amount will be returned to the user immediately since there will be no charge to the card.
On the other hand, users can also choose to pay for their charging at EVPower Menara Hartamas by using the EVPower My+ app. Available for Android and iOS devices, there will be no pre-authorisation amount but you need to have at least a balance of RM5 before you can activate a charger.
As for the charging fee, EVPower customer service informed us that the current fee structure shown in the app is not correct and the company is already working to rectify it. Applicable to all EVPower public chargers nationwide, the actual charging fee is RM1 per kWh for the AC chargers and RM1.20 per kWh for the faster DC chargers.
Benefits for Volvo Pekin Auto customers and CIMB cardholders
Together with the launch of its new hub at Menara Hartamas, EVpower has also announced its new partnership with Pekin Auto which is a major Volvo dealer in Johor. Under the new collaboration, customers who purchased the fully-electric Volvo XC40 Recharge or C40 Recharge SUVs will be provided with RM500 charging credit from EVPower.
If they decide to get an AC home charger from EVPower to accompany their new Volvo EVs, the company will also provide an additional RM500 charging credit. Meanwhile, CIMB credit and debit card holders can enjoy a 5% discount on the charging fee when they charge their vehicle at the new EVPower Menara Hartamas hub.
EVPower to expand its charging network in Johor
At the moment, EVPower already deployed its chargers at seven locations throughout Johor which involves a total of 15 charging bays. The company is already aiming to at least double the number of its charging points in the state by the end of this year, so keep a look for the EVPower chargers the next time you visit Johor.
