TNBX has revealed the launch dates for the new TNB Electron EV chargers at Aeon Mall Kota Bharu and Seri Manjung. The TNB subsidiary previously announced that they have installed DC chargers at selected Aeon Malls in Kelantan and Perak.
Contributing to the growth of EV charging infrastructure in Kota Bharu
Set to be opened to the public on 1 August, the deployment at Aeon Mall Kota Bharu will mark the debut of TNB Electron in the East Coast state. TNBX is the fourth Charge Point Operator (CPO) that has installed a DC charger in the state capital after ChargEV, Gentari, and ChargeSini.
Similar to the Aeon Mall Wangsa Maju, TNBX chose to deploy an Autel DC40 MaxiCharge DC Compact charger at Aeon Mall Kota Bharu. It can support up to two EVs at the same time with a peak DC charging speed of 47kW.
TNB Electron is the first public DC charger in Manjung district
The company has also installed the same 47KW Autel DC charger at Aeon Mall Seri Manjung. However, TNB Electron’s role in the area is slightly more critical since this is the first public DC charger in the Manjung district.
Hence, TNB Electron’s new charger at the Aeon Mall will not only cover Seri Manjung town once it goes live on 3 August. It is essentially the nearest DC charger for many other towns within the Manjung district such as Setiawan, Lumut, and Ayer Tawar.
The next DC charging spot after TNB Electron Aeon Seri Manjung is the DC Handal charging station at the West Coast Expressway’s Trong Toll Plaza which is around 70km up north from the shopping mall. At the moment, the majority of the public DC chargers in Perak are located in Ipoh and Taiping.
Early birds will receive free mystery gifts
Meanwhile, TNBX representatives have informed us that its team members will be stationed at both locations on their launch day. Aside from being able to engage directly with the CPO, EV owners who come to charge their vehicles on the opening day will also receive a mystery gift.
The CPO has done this before for some of its previous deployments such as R&R Paka Northbound and R&R Ayer Keroh Northbound. As for the charging fee for the new chargers at Seri Manjung and Kota Bharu, the company will only reveal it once they are operational but it shouldn’t be far off from Aeon Mall Wangsa Maju which currently costs RM1.35 per kWh.
