Not too long after the launch of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 and the Honor Magic V3, it is Xiaomi’s turn to reveal their latest foldable flagship – the Xiaomi Mix Fold 4. This is their thinnest large screen foldable yet and they have made several upgrades including a larger battery and improved cameras co-engineered by Leica.

For those who are concerned about accidental splashes, you’ll be happy to know that the latest Xiaomi foldable has finally been certified for IPX8-rated water resistance.

The Mix Fold 4 features a 6.56″ 2520×1080 pixels resolution cover display and a larger 7.98″ flexible 2488×2244 pixels resolution main display. The screens boast up to 3000 nits of peak brightness and dynamic 1-120Hz variable refresh rate.

Under the hood, it runs on the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 paired with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage. To ensure sustained performance during intensive multi-tasking, the device gets a 3D cooling system consisting of an advanced vapour chamber and multiple layers of graphite.

The new foldable now weighs 226g and it is only 4.59mm thin when unfolded or 9.47mm when folded. The breakthrough in slimness and weight is made possible by Xiaomi’s proprietary Hinge 2.0 which reduces the total hinge volume by 34%. For the first time, Xiaomi uses an “all-carbon architecture” where the hinge floating plate, display backing plate and middle plate battery compartment are moulded from T800H carbon fibre material.

The Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 gets a quad-camera Leica system which comprises a 50MP main camera with Light Fusion 800 sensor, a 12MP ultra-wide-angle camera and Dual Leica telephoto cameras. The 115mm Leica ultra telephoto camera lens with a periscope system offers 5x optical zoom. Meanwhile, the secondary telephoto camera has a Leica floating lens with 2x optical zoom.

Despite being slimmer, the Mix Fold 4 is equipped with a large 5,100mAh battery that uses silicon-carbon anode technology. Xiaomi has managed to increase the battery capacity by adopting a 3D shaped battery and the motherboard has been designed to optimise space efficiency. Similar to the previous generation Mix Fold 3, it still supports 67W fast wired charging and 50W wireless charging.

The Mix Fold 4 is currently available only in mainland China and here’s the official pricing:

  • 12GB+256GB – CNY8,999 (about RM5,802)
  • 16GB+512GB – CNY9,999 (about RM6,435)
  • 16GB+1TB – CNY10,999 (about RM7,078)
